This session will open your eyes to the multitude of opportunities for funding a small business. Whether you are seeking a loan, considering investors, going it alone or just need some creative ideas to get things moving - we've got you covered.

This one-hour session is for both new and established small businesses. Maybe you’ve had a great idea and written your business plan. You are ready to launch your business—but you need a little extra cash to make it happen. Or, you've been at it a while and think it's time to infuse some capital to make some strategic changes for growth and stability.

  • Community Lenders - it's not the same as walking into a bank in your neighborhood, these are specifically funded by the government to work with businesses like yours


  • Crowdsourcing - a very real option that has works for many small businesses

About The Instructor

Vicky Valdez, veteran spouse, grew up in a military family and knows what service in uniform means for families. She has a wealth of experience in economic development, small business development, funding and finance. For ten years she managed the City of Austin’s Small Business Program and currently serves as a Professor & Assistant Department Chair for Entrepreneurial Studies at Austin Community College. 

Vicky has more than fifteen years of commercial and residential construction experience and also happens to operate a goat ranch in rural south Texas with another family member. She has an undergraduate degree in engineering from Texas A&M University at Kingsville and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Vicky is a favorite in our veteran and military classrooms. Her  feedback ratings consistently bring in 5 out of 5 stars.
